Always #LIKEAGIRL

Always #LIKEAGIRL: How It All Started - Hey There!

What does it mean to do things #LIKEAGIRL? Always is on a mission to change the definition.

“You throw like a girl.”

“You run like a girl.”

“You fight like a girl.”

Using the phrase “like a girl” as an insult can take a toll on an adolescent girl’s self-confidence. It can give girls the impression that they are weaker, or less talented, skilled or capable, simply because of their gender. And since going through puberty is no picnic either, it’s easy to see how this insult can have a huge impact on a girl during a critical time in her development.

That’s why Always has been on a mission to change the perception of “like a girl.” In 2014, we kicked off an epic battle to make sure girls everywhere maintain their confidence throughout puberty and beyond by showing them that doing things #LIKEAGIRL is downright amazing. Since then, we’ve turned a simple phrase into a powerful movement.

For the past 30 years, Always has been empowering girls globally. We are bringing puberty and confidence education to more than 18 million adolescent girls annually, and we’re on a mission to teach millions more. Find out more about our education program and how you can get involved.
