Alliance to End Plastic Waste

SUPPORT THIS CAUSE

Plastic is the most commonly used material in packaging — and yet just 14% of plastic packaging is collected for recycling. Support this cause by taking the pledge.

I pledge to recycle my used plastic.

Recycling rules can vary. Be sure to check your local listings to learn what can be recycled in your area.

A legacy of doing good. A commitment to doing better.

P&G is committed to creating products that minimize their environmental footprint while also making life easier for people to reduce, reuse and recycle. As a founding partner of the Alliance to End Plastic Waste, P&G is doubling down on these sustainability efforts. And with over 40 global companies working together, the Alliance is creating a strategy that will allow cities, businesses and people to work together to reduce plastic waste.

The power of an alliance

Plastics have had a big impact on the world we live in, helping to improve living standards, hygiene and nutrition and making many things more convenient than ever before. But the waste from these plastic materials has gotten out of control. Plastic waste doesn’t belong in our oceans — and it definitely can’t stay there.

That’s why the Alliance is getting to work, creating partnerships around the world. This year, they announced a new partnership with the Grameen Creative Lab to support the development of Zero Plastic Waste Cities. This new project — launching in India and Vietnam — will enable meaningful, sustainable improvement in the protection of our environment and the quality of life for all those who live, work and play in Zero Plastic Waste Cities.

A smarter plan in place = a planet with less plastic waste

The companies that form the Alliance (who are from all across the plastics value chain) have committed to spending $1.5 billion over the next five years for developing and advancing solutions to end plastic waste. The Alliance’s approach includes four main areas of focus: infrastructure development, innovation, education and engagement and clean-up.

With a plan in place, the Alliance to End Plastic Waste mission to help eliminate plastic waste in our environment is becoming more of a reality every day.
