P&G + United Way

A legacy of doing good. A commitment to doing better.

In 1915, P&G founder James N. Gamble helped create one of the first coordinated community campaigns for charity. That campaign was ultimately the precursor for the local United Way in Cincinnati, where P&G’s global headquarters are located.

In Canada, P&G and United Way have shared a long history of working together in support of communities where we operate. P&G has worked with United Way through sponsorship, cause marketing efforts, on employee fundraising campaigns, and volunteer activities.

P&G is a committed partner that is proud to support United Way in connecting Canadians to programs and services to help with all of life’s challenges through 211.

United Way is a movement of people who want to ensure that everyone in every community has the opportunity to live a good life. By working together, United Way makes important social issues like poverty and exclusion in our communities #UNIGNORABLE. As a federated network of local United Ways serving more than 5,000 communities across Canada, United Way uses deep local community knowledge, relationships and presence to empower people to make a personal impact and improve their communities over the course of their lives.

Help starts here

United Way has impacted millions of lives through the thousands of community services they support. This includes the founding and development of the free, confidential, information and referral service, 211.

211 is Canada’s primary source of information for government and community-based, non-clinical health and social services. It is a free and confidential service that can be accessed 24 hours a day, in more than 150 languages, by phone, chat, text, and online.

When you call 2-1-1 you’re connected to a real person who is trained to guide callers to local services and resources for mental health, food, legal services, and financial support, and much more.

211 helps connect people to the right information and services, making their pathway to care and resources a guided and trusted one.
